Our family has suffered through two cycles of viruses in as many weeks. This week’s cold/flu seems to be tapering off, and thankfully it did not have the shock and awe force of last week’s stomach bug. Did I mention that our clothes dryer is currently out of commission?
During one particularly miserable day, I lay cuddled up in bed with the kids late in the afternoon when Lily tossed her proverbial cookies all over herself, myself and the bed. Nati escaped uncontaminated, so he remained in my room while Lily and I went to the bathroom to wash and change. Just a few moments later, I heard Nati hollering in the next room. I rushed in to find him leaning most of his upper body out the upstairs bedroom window and yelling to a friend from church who was walking by our house.
“YOU CAN’T COME VISIT US RIGHT NOW, BECAUSE MY MOM AND MY SISTER ARE BOTH NAKED!”
“Nati!” I yelled. He looked at me confused, but I couldn’t come up with any sort of admonition that made sense. “It embarrasses mommy when you tell other people she’s naked,” didn’t sound quite right, and everything he’d said was, in fact, true. But I can’t help wondering what passersby must think of our apparently nudist household.
